As a young walker called Jack Anstey put it:
“from here the tall pines frame Raven Crag mirroring images of Yosemite Valley in California, where vertical walls of light rock dominate every scene”
Raven Crag is a monumental slab of outstanding grandeur and beauty. It is made of hard stuff, volcanic igneous rock, and not the softer limestone of Yosemite
Nothing compares to standing at it’s base and staring up to see Falcons diving for their prey. Despite its imposing façade, it is an ecologically fragile place where climbers are barred from their activity during the nesting season
An early morning shot into the sun yields an image of good contrast and strength, hopefully to convey the power and strength of this monumetal and impressive place
